This weekend will see 14% more auctions compared to the same week last year, giving property seekers more choice.

Melbourne has the highest number of auctions set for the coming days, closely tailed by Sydney.

Both cities have seen year-on-year increases of 9% and 23% respectively; however, Brisbane's auctions have surged by 53% from last year.

These three cities dominate the auction scene annually, although regional New South Wales and Queensland also see several hundred auctions weekly at this time of year.

Reservoir in Melbourne is the suburb with the most auctions this weekend, with 27 properties going under the hammer.

Doncaster East, also in Melbourne, has 21 auctions, followed closely by Glen Waverley with 20.

Melbourne is clearly Australia's auction capital, hosting 38% of all scheduled auctions in 2024.

Sydney had 31% of auctions over the same period, with top suburbs this weekend being Cronulla, Lane Cove, and St Ives.

In Brisbane, Camp Hill, Bulimba, and Algester have the most properties going to auction this weekend.

Auctions draw significant attention not only from property seekers eager to bid but also from onlookers curious about the competitive spectacle.

The number of views an auction listing gets often indicates which properties will have large turnouts.

One standout property expected to draw crowds this Sunday is 50 Dauphin Terrace, Highgate Hill, Queensland, which has garnered over 21,000 views since listing.

The seven-bedroom riverfront manor in Brisbane, known for its Victorian style and 23-metre swimming pool, is likely to attract a crowd this weekend.

The second most viewed property going to auction this weekend is 24 Greeves Street, Fitzroy in Melbourne, listed between $950,000 and $1,040,000.

It has already attracted 11,000 views and is expected to draw a large crowd on Saturday when it goes under the hammer.

Agents typically prefer to sell by auction when the market is strong, ensuring enough serious interest, but in a slower market, they are more likely to suggest a private sale.
