Franchise Owner/Mortgage Broker 

Mark took over as franchisee of the award winning Mortgage Choice Dunsborough franchise in November 2022 from Rod Holt.

Mark has lived in Busselton in the South West of WA for over 13 years and loves working with clients from all locations to help them realise their plans and dreams. 

With over 27 years of banking and finance experience at ANZ in commercial and home/investment lending, Mark is well equipped to assist clients in all facets of lending as a mortgage broker. 

Mark can provide finance solutions for all types of personal lending including that for self employed clients. 

"As a property investor for over 20 years I know the ins and outs of investing in property and the financing for it,"he says. 

He also specialises in commercial lending where he can help with business purchases, commercial property purchases(owner occupied or investment), franchise lending, existing and start up trading business's, supermarket lending, car and equipment finance and agri finance.  

One of mark's proudest moments as a banker was that he helped a business client grow into a $100 million plus turnover business. 

"I know how to develop professional relationships, negotiate the best solution for clients and provide a high level of customer service," he says. 

Mark has been a trusted adviser to many clients over a long period and prides himself on finding a tailored solution to meet client's needs and expectations in a timely and efficient manner.

Mark is very patient and will fight for you to to get the desired outcome to meet your requirements.   

He has a Degree in Property and Finance and recently completed a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management.        

Mark is based in the Dunsborough office and is also mobile to meet clients at their preferred location.       

Outside of work Mark enjoys watching his daughters play AFL, is a passionate Eagles supporter and loves working on his Holdens/HSV's.

Rod has lived in the South West for over 19 years and enjoys helping South West locals, people from all across the country and even overseas achieve their financial goals.

With over 30 years of experience in the banking and lending industry including 15 years as a mortgage broker, Rod takes pride in providing professional, ethical and honest advice with the highest level of customer service.

“Whether you are purchasing your first home, building a home, looking to renovate, buying commercial property, investing, or refinancing an existing mortgage, my role is to find the most suitable product for your particular circumstances,” he says.

“To me, being a great mortgage broker is more than just having great industry knowledge. It’s about listening to you, taking your plans and future goals into consideration, then helping you to make an informed decision on the loan that suits your individual needs.”

It’s true that the loan process can be complex, time-consuming, and stressful. Rod’s goal is to ease this burden by making it simple and straightforward.

His longstanding relationships with lenders are extremely helpful when it comes to negotiating competitive rates or dealing with challenging situations. “I will always go into bat for you as my client – you are my number one priority,” he says.

Rod feels privileged to have a great number of ‘lifelong clients’ who continue to turn to him for advice, often many years after their initial meeting; and clients who refer their entire family, their children and even grandchildren to him. “It’s an honour to have someone place this level of trust in my services, and I work hard to ensure that I deliver outstanding results for each of my clients.”

Shane is a passionate mortgage adviser who is dedicated to exceeding customer expectations. Professional, friendly and trustworthy, Shane always puts his clients first, going above and beyond to ensure a seamless borrowing process.

“I am available any time to discuss concerns or queries and I keep in regular contact with my clients,” he says. “I make sure they know exactly where their application is at so there’s no confusion. I really aim to take the stress out of borrowing,” he says.

Shane places high importance on being open and transparent; “this is the foundation for trust and the building of long term relationships,” he says.

With extensive experience in real estate, Shane is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of buying a property, from start to finish. He can assist all borrowers – from first home buyers to investors to those wanting to refinance.

“Being a great broker is all about understanding what the client needs, so that the product chosen matches their lifestyle and financial position,” says Shane. “I pride myself on being able to get this right every time, by being approachable and ensuring clients can talk to me about their financial needs and goals.”

Gai joined the Mortgage Choice team in June 2015 as personal assistant to franchise owner Rod Holt. Gai has in excess of 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including a 17-year tenure at Bankwest.

Gai’s financial service skills, combined with her branch experience, gives her a solid foundation of customer service. She enjoys the challenge of serving the needs of our clients and working as part of the Dunsborough team. She is an enthusiastic, valuable and committed member of the team.

Gai is a local girl, an avid West Coast Eagles supporter and a besotted grandmother of two.

Client Services Manager 

Jeremy is the newest addition to the Mortgage Choice Dunsborough team and has hit the ground running learning the ins and outs of Mortgage Broking and how best to help clients.

Jeremy’s passion for the finance field shines through in his day to day work as a personal assistant, always willing to learn and uses his customer service experience from the hospitality field to make client communications as smooth as possible.

Jeremy is one of the many southwest locals that support the Eagles, and when he isn’t in the office you’ll probably find him in a bookstore or a music store shopping for another guitar he doesn’t need!

Bernadette Van Kleef comes from an accounting background, having worked in the Oil and Gas industry in accounting and finance for over 10 years before moving to the South West. For the past decade, she has owned and operated a small bookkeeping business as a registered BAS agent, which has given her valuable insights into the financial needs of individuals and businesses alike. Her friendly and approachable nature makes her a trusted advisor for homebuyers and seasoned investors alike.
