Instead of handing over a single lump sum, a construction loan is paid to you (or more likely, your builder) via a series of payments that coincide with key construction milestones. The timing of the payments can vary from lender to lender, but the payment plan usually follows the building stages: slab, frame, lock-up, fit-out and completion!

To apply for a construction loan, you’ll need standard home loan documents (like proof of income, expenses, and ID) plus additional paperwork such as a fixed-price building contract, council-approved plans and building specifications. I know it sounds like a lot, but don’t worry - I’ll guide you through exactly what’s needed and liaise with your builder and lender to make sure everything is in order.
