Avoid Buy Now Pay Later Facilities. Whilst it might seem like a convenience service, frequent use of Buy Now Pay Later Products (such as Zip Pay and After Pay) could affect your eligibilty for mortgage lending down the track. Rightly or wrongly, lenders view these BNPL facilities as tools used by consumers who are poor managers of their personal finances. Consequently, the creditworthiness of would-be mortgage applicants will be subject to a higher level of scrutiny, than those applicants who avoid such facilities. The use of BNPL facilities will also have a negative impact to your credit score.
