Since our team members have plenty of professional experience here at Mortgage Choice in Arundel, Broadbeach and Inner North West Brisbane, it’s no surprise that our business is made up of truly diverse set of backgrounds along with many different reasons for doing what we do. So, who are these individuals in our mortgage broking business, and what inspires them to help clients each day?
This month, we’re lucky to be able to share a “Meet the Team” article about a new member of our team who is now based at our Arundel office. We sat down recently with Loans Processor, Brock Starr, whose role supports our Mortgage Brokers, Darren Comerford, Will Todd and Jayden Livingstone. Brock also assists with the day-to-day business needs of our Mortgage Choice Arundel office and the rest of the team – it’s a considerable effort and he’s proving to be up to the challenge!
Here’s some interesting background info on Brock…
Brock was born in Penrith, NSW, but didn’t stay in Western Sydney for long as his parents decided to move the family to the Gold Coast when Brock was just 3 years old. His family settled in Bonogin and Brock has now lived on the Goldy since then.
Education and early career
Brock completed a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting, which speaks to his love of numbers. His early career consisted of working part-time at an accounting firm, while also being a Dealer at the local Casino.
The combination of these two very different but money-focussed jobs has given Brock an interesting insight into the highs and lows of finances, as well as what a smart financial approach can look like (and also what not to do!).
Joining the team
In June 2024 Brock joined our team. He was interested in becoming a loan processor at Mortgage Choice largely because he wanted a role in financial services where he could help customers achieve often one of their most significant life goals of buying property.
We asked Brock a few questions to find out more about the things that inspire him...
What are some of your favourite things?
“A couple of my favourite things include working out and going to the gym, and spending time with my girlfriend.”
What would be your ‘last meal’?
“My last meal would be a beef kebab… with double meat.”
Why did you decide to become a Loans Processor?
“I actually decided to become a loan processor in order to get the experience necessary to become a mortgage broker, so it’s helping me realise my future goal.”
What do you enjoy most about being a Loans Processor?
“I love talking to people and helping them secure a new home.”
